The children in Oak have shown an increased interest in building so we decided to look at our own houses to see if we could make them ourselves. We have been painting pictures of our houses and the children talked about what their houses looked like and what colours they were. We talked about what colour door we had and who lived with us in our house. We used the pictures to make a display for our construction area.

At group time children in the Mulberry room were sharing how they found ice on their cars and in the garden over the weekend. In the malleable area this morning we put ice, shaving foam and gel in for the children to explore, they enjoyed making different patterns in the foam and were able to balance the blocks of ice on top of one another to make their own structures and buildings giving meaning to what they had made e.g "mummy's house"
